My 5 year old daughter was recently saying how cars should drive themselves or have kitchens so I uickly ordered this book for her She loves itSome of the faces could be appealing but overall I love the 1950 s style artwork The process of designing the car starting with a careful study of past designs and related technologies actually makes some sense Edit My daughter is 7 years old now and since originally writing this review we have purchased the other two books in this series My daughter told me last night that these three books are easily her most favorite books of all I know I would have loved them when I was a kid and as a person who does some mechanical design myself I am overjoyed that my daughter takes such an interest in these creative books We have ordered a lot of highly rated books from other authors and in too many instances have been disappointed by them in one way or another These If I Built books are nearly flawless and in my opinion probably the very best books ever written for kids 5 to 8 years old They are very enjoyable even for an adult to look at and read actually

This review is for the book uality not the content The story and artwork is excellent The book itself not so much Not sure if while printing the ink was still wet when they put it together but every page is warped like it got wet I would return it but every year on my sons birthday we write a note in a book and give it to him We neglected to actually look through the pages before writing in it So unfortunately we can t return it
