search of souls to collect Yes he is a grim reaper and that train route is his curse As years passed by he learned to stay distant to stay sane since one touch takes away little bits of a human s soul However no matter how engraved he had his mantra in his brain his heart couldn t care less when he met the auburn haired beauty Mina She is everything he ever wanted but never thought he could have easy going cheerful refreshing He knows he has to collect souls to pay his debt but what could a couple of days with Mina could do After all his time in servitude he deserves a few days He promised himself that would be the case butwould he be able to let go when the time comesI really loved this modern fairy tale romance story We are used to have a damsel in distress in those stories but in this case Erik is the one bearing the curse His personality is so solemn His eyes are full of guilt and we get to see that even when he looks at Mina Even though she made him feel so full of life she also reminded him that she deserves better than a cursed soul that could and would kill her I felt bad for him when I saw how much he yearned for for a life with her and really wished that time could stop so they didn t have to part I was also captivated by Mina She was so very full of life and a little too na ve He warned a lot of times but for some reason she sensed there was to him I truly don t know if I respect and admire her or feel sorry that she lacks a self preservation sense Nevertheless I loved how she complemented Erik so much Another fact that I wanted to discuss is how much I wanted to slap the Gatekeeper Erik s boss He was such a mean insensitive cruel Ice King You will see what I mean later and would want to do the same but he did serve a purpose at the end I suppose I must confess the ending was no big surprise for me I was kind of expecting it and probably a lot of readers will too Nevertheless the plot was great and no one complains when you get a happy ending right However bear in mind that it always comes with a price and this is no exception I truly recommend this short novel to any modern fairy tale lovers that yearn for than what the legends convey 4 couldn’t hurt but he sorely underestimated her determination Every encounter between them A lifetime in a week 45 starsI loved reading this little gem of a book Soul Solution is a story about a reaper and his chance encounter with a woman that irrevocably changes their livesMina prefers to stay at home and read with her cat as company Though she prefers staying at home she lets one of her work friend convince her to go on a blind date The date is going horrible wrong or right depending on who you ask All Mina wants is to go to her uiet home and forget the whole eveningErik is an uber hot and broody reaper he is at war with his conscience regarding his nightly job Consuming soul is not something he relishes doing every day or night in this case His touch literal spells death for humans He gave up everything to save someone he once loved and ended up becoming a monster He is a monster that rides the Copenhagen Line every night in search for his latest prey He s constantly fighting with himself about the deaths that his touch causes even though the souls that he consumes are people that would die soon On this particular night he is done with his deadly deed and plans to head out but ends up bumping into MinaErik freezes in his path no one can touch him and even a little whisper of his touch can take years of person s life He is that lethal He is DEATH Mina is instantly relieved to have bumped into Erik causing her to spill her drink it gives her the perfect opportunity to ditch her blind date She convinces Erik to leave the club with her and their journey together begins Erik fights his inner demon and tries in vain to stay away from Mina but alas the attraction and connection is too much for him to ignore So they come to an understanding that at the end of the week they would part waysMina tries to argue with him she doesn t understand why they cannot be together and Erik s cryptic warnings and doom and gloom isn t enough to sway her As these two lost souls spend each night together fate wraps their bond tighter bringing them closer into their own bubble They both struggle against each other s decision Erik for staying with her and making it that much harder for him to leave her in the end and Mina for not being able to persuade him to stayThe last night was the hardest for me to read it was beautiful and poignant to feel the emotions bursting out from the pages of this story As the night draws to an end and Erik and Mina decides on their fate things complete explode in their faces When fate decides to butt heads nothing or no one can stop it from exacting its revenge Will Erik be able to ignore Mina s charm and keep her alive and safe from his touch Or will Mina finally taste the forbidden fruit and end up giving her life for her love Soul Solution Free read ´ 5 Is reprieve from the guilt of reaping souls every night but it can’t last Even if she sparks long buried feelings and even if her sheer presence intoxicates him he can’t let this continue For humans his touch is poison and if he slips up it could cost her li I ll be honest I m not familiar with the original fairytale this installment of the series is based on but the premise sounded so interesting I had to give it a read And right off the bat parts of it reminded me of Dead Like Me which made me glad I picked it up The tension between the two main characters was so electrifying and well written I almost didn t want to find out if they got together or not as that would ruin half the funAlong those lines and I ll keep this review spoiler free there were a number of ways the main conflict could have resolved while I enjoyed trying to guess how each character would wind up by the end of the book what actually happened took me by surprise Which seems to be a rarity these days I definitely recommend this compelling novella
