review ☆ PDF, DOC, TXT or eBook Ö Kathryn Berla [Beau and Bett] EBOOK READ Kathryn Berla Ö 0 Summary One of my favorite tropes to read are renditions of fairytales and one of my all time favorite fairytales happens to be the story of Beauty and the Beast So when I saw Beau and Bett was to be a retelling of Beauty and the Beast I knew I had to read it The book starts off with a twist where Beau is our beauty He comes from a lovely family where though they may not have a lot and are on hard times the love they have for e

characters Beau and Bett Kathryn Berla Ö 0 Summary review ☆ PDF, DOC, TXT or eBook Ö Kathryn Berla This is an alternate cover edition of ISBN 9781948705448After Beau LeFrancois's mother wrecks Bett Diaz’s luxury SUV his family faces an impossibly large bill with no car insurance to help pay it To pay off the debt Beau sp. Check out reviews Perspective of a WriterThe BuzzIn the past Kathryn Berla has approached me to read her books I really loved Going Places and enjoyed the neat fusion story in Dream Me We lost touch however when I saw that Beau and Bett was a new YA by Kathryn Berla I knew I had to give it a go What I enjoy so much about her books is the subtle slice of life feel to her stories and her realistic and uirky characters I love the title Beau and Bett for a contemporary retelling of Beauty and the Beast It suits the subtle touch she used in giving the fairy tale new life in modern times I m not that big of a fan of the cover Bett never braided her hair but actually had it up in a bun multiple times And its uite misleading too Beau is actually the protagonist and so it disappoints you without you even opening the book that we never get Bett s POV Don t mess with our expectations and expect us to be happy This isn t Kathryn s fault but a major problem with people buying the bookThe PremiseBeau is a good guy He doesn t have a job after school so he can watch his kid brothers He helps his dad who is all laid up in casts toddle to the bathroom to pee When his mom gets into a fender bender and the girl she hits goes all rich girl crazy on her he takes on the responsibility of settling with the girl s father and paying off the debt I really fell for Beau right off He felt like a genuine guy Not hot off the rails or really angsty or a banter machine He felt like a guy whose family is loving but poor He has plans to live the same kind of life as his parents I just loved it We learn about Bett the beast through Beau We first hear about her from his mother who recounts how the girl reacted to the fender bender And it wasn t pretty She s not a princess or anything crazy but her father s ranch does brisk business and they don t know want As the two continue to meet we come to care about Bett because Beau comes to care about her It s subtle it s sweet and you can t help but follow Beau s lead on the matter My ExperienceAt first I was wondering why in the world this was marketed as a Beauty and the Beast retelling The correlation felt weak with it being about Beau s name and family and Bett s reputation at school And the one thing I didn t like about the book was that her nickname was the beast that didn t make sense to me I wondered why Beau and Bett wasn t just marketed as the wonderful contemporary romance that it was turning out to beBut as I closed on the last uarter of Beau and Bett I saw it I saw the subtle but beautiful correlation between the themes in Beauty and the Beast and this contemporary romance It lies in the fact that Bett is uite misjudged by her peers at school due to her frank nature and an incident that happened when she first transferred there The Beast was uite misjudged due to his appearance and the curse that was put upon him Are you seeing it Yeah Beau like Beauty sees through her reputation to the lovely girl that is underneath It happens slowly over time as the two get to know one anotherThe thing is Beau and Bett starts out with a wonderful slice of life meandering as we learn about Beau and the situation that leads to him meeting Bett His family is introduced and its all lovely and contemporary with tons of neat details that make the world he lives in come alive but in contrast to the magical stakes in the original story this can feel TOO contemporary Too ordinary That is what I adored about the book It takes these subtle relationships and makes them realWhy may you enjoy Beau and Bett Beau s POVI love that this was solely from the male protagonist s POV We got to see his slowly change his opinion of Bett First Love vs First CrushI loved that Beau had someone he liked before meeting Bett As he because aware of the differences he felt between the two girls he could see where his feelings lay The FamiliesI really fell hard for Beau s family I loved what it said about him and why his nature was the way it was I also appreciated Bett s dad and how their first meeting complicated things Bett s Refreshing CharacterSince we see her through Beau s eyes we aren t seeing all of Bett right away I loved this things he came to know about her the way she approached things her frankness her love of the ranch and fashion She isn t your typical female character It s so realI love that Berla resisted adding any magical realism elements to make it feel like the original story Instead she distilled the fairy tale down into its raw parts and gave us a wonderful contemporary twist that feels like it could have really happenedI highly suggest this Beauty and the Beast retelling but go in with your expectations managed Beau and Bett isn t magical realism This is a contemporary romance about acceptance doing what s right and seeing past the gossip and reputation It s subtle heartfelt and real Authenticity Writing Style Plot Pacing World BuildingB Cover Title grade Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review It has not influenced my opinionsYou can find this review and many others on my book blog Perspective of a Writer Read my special perspective under the typewriter on my reviews Please like this review if you enjoyed it bow bow It helps me out a ton

characters Beau and Bett Kathryn Berla Ö 0 Summary review ☆ PDF, DOC, TXT or eBook Ö Kathryn Berla Xterior he finds himself falling for her until he catches Bett in a lieA contemporary twist on a classic fairy tale Beau and Bett is a timely story of family friendship and the power of speaking out and standing up for yourse. 35 starsIt took me a while to get into this book At first the characters felt flat and one dimensional Everything seemed surface and Beau and Bett s actions were confusing and didn t make sense Bett was hot and cold and awkward and Beau couldn t make up his mind how he felt Around the halfway point things started to come together and when we got the backstory of why people call Bett the beast I saw her as a real person who had actual emotions Beau got better over the story too I m glad he cared about Bett and treated her better The side characters were blah Beau s dad s accent was irritating and the whole side story of the wedding had almost no purpose It did have cute moments I liked Beau and Bett s banter and how they opened up to each other It could use some fleshing out overall an okay read
